Centennial Park Tennis Court Improvements

The project to support improvements to the tennis courts at Centennial Park was initiated in June 2016 after the dissolution of the Carson City Tennis Club. The purpose of the project was to raise funds to purchase and maintain equipment at the Centennial Park facility and other public tennis courts in Carson City.

In 2021, the Foundation for Carson City Parks & Recreation allocated $15,000 of the funds entrusted to it by the former Carson City Tennis Club to initiate the design, planning, and engineering of new tennis courts at Centennial Park. Once one of the finest tennis facilities in the region, the Centennial Park Tennis Facility suffered from a lack of routine maintenance and experienced significant flood damage during the winter of 2016-17. Since a total reconstruction was necessary, the Board of Supervisors subsequently allocated $333,000 to reconstruct 4 of the 6 courts at the facility.
