After the Carson City Parks & Recreation Department graciously made two old unusable tennis courts available, an ad-hoc group of local volunteers raised the funds and provided the workforce to convert them to eight dedicated pickleball courts with permanent nets. The Mills Park Pickleball Courts were completed in two phases, with four courts opening in July 2020 and an additional four courts opening in September 2020. The volunteer group continues to raise funds to maintain the courts.
The courts are available to the public free of charge during normal Mills Park operating hours. A combination lock is installed to deter vandalism.
More information is available at Places 2 Play and on the Mills Park Pickleball Facebook Page.
As a part of the recently revised Mills Park Master Plan, six additional new courts are currently planned for the area between the existing courts and the Aquatics Center.
